BYLAWS

OF

THE UNIVERSITY AREA NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

Article I

Name and Address

The name of the association shall be the University Area Neighborhood Association. The Association shall maintain as an address that of the current President of the Association – or that of another officer as deemed appropriate.

Article II

Purpose

The purpose for which the Association is organized is to represent the permanent residents of the Polo Road – University Parkway area in all matters that pertain to the continuing health and well-being of this area as a residential environment. To achieve this goal, the Association will encourage the residents:

a. To preserve the basically residential nature of the neighborhood;

b. To work to prevent encroachment of industrial, educational, institutional, commercial, and high density land uses;

c. To encourage all residents to maintain and improve existing properties;

d. To sponsor meetings, cultural land civic events, and presentations which will improve the quality of life, educate the residents or further the goals of the Association, and

e. To pursue other endeavors as may be deemed advisable by the Association.

 

Article III

Membership

Section 1. Resident Homeowners.

Membership in the Association shall be open to residents 18 years of age or over living in a single-family house in the Polo Road-University Parkway area specified in Article III, Section 2 [Definition of "resident homeowner"].

Section 2. Area of Membership

The Association will accept as members permanent residents in the Polo Road and University Parkway area who are residents of the North Ward or the Northwest Ward.

Section 3. Voting Members

Any resident as specified in Sections 1 and 2 above, who, upon payment of dues as established by the Officers elected by the Association, shall be a member and entitled to one vote on each matter brought before the membership for consideration, and shall be referred to hereafter as "voting members."
